The here and now... and what and why

Complacency is a trap. At least that’s what I was thinking when I up and left the comfort of a Yankee prep school gig, where I taught music, amongst other things, for 28 years. There was also that life long career as a composer, musician and artist.

First, it was a year in St. Thomas, USVI, working as a reporter and shooting photography and then, a year in San Agustin Etla, Oaxaca, Mexico.
Time passed.
More time passed and a year back in the Athens of America followed by a hasty return to Oaxaca where it is all happening.
A couple of years in San Sebastian Etla and now, just down the road in San Pablo Etla. Life is good.

Hidden hallways

One of the most fascinating aspects of Mexico's architectural style is the hidden area, what's behind the closed gate.  Often it is a spectacular garden, courtyard or hallway.  You can imagine my surprise to see this layout.  The floors were being washed, so the doors were open, revealing this visual treat.  First, came the entry way, which was painted from top to bottom with colorful and iconic figures.
To the left was a door leading to a cafe.

There might be several reasons why Jesus' eyes are rolling back into his head,
One of them being what he has to look at across the hall.

His eyes might be rolling, but look at the others.  The demon's are falling out and the skull seems fixated on... I'm not sure what.
The entry led to this gorgeous courtyard.
How much fun would it be to live there?  Beautiful.
