The here and now... and what and why

Complacency is a trap. At least that’s what I was thinking when I up and left the comfort of a Yankee prep school gig, where I taught music, amongst other things, for 28 years. There was also that life long career as a composer, musician and artist.

First, it was a year in St. Thomas, USVI, working as a reporter and shooting photography and then, a year in San Agustin Etla, Oaxaca, Mexico.
Time passed.
More time passed and a year back in the Athens of America followed by a hasty return to Oaxaca where it is all happening.
A couple of years in San Sebastian Etla and now, just down the road in San Pablo Etla. Life is good.

Piñas the way they are supposed to be...

"Ain't nothing like the real thing, baby" and so it was yesterday as I stopped to get a piña from this woman.  She and her family have a prime corner spot for Wednesday's market and they do a very brisk business.  I have finally figured out that it is much easier to buy a nice cleaned and sliced piña from her than to get a whole one and chop it up at home.  I mean, it is always a bit messy.  In fact, you can buy lots of fruits this way, ready to eat.  Look at those watermelon, sandias.
She was really nice yesterday and picked out a nice big one for me and went at it.  What can I say?  She is a professional and 1..2..3.., she was handing me a sticky bag, filled with beautiful slices.   It was so fragrant that it filled the car with a heavenly aroma.  So.... I ate it.

Don't the colours of the pineapple and watermelon look fantastic contrasted against each other!
