The here and now... and what and why

Complacency is a trap. At least that’s what I was thinking when I up and left the comfort of a Yankee prep school gig, where I taught music, amongst other things, for 28 years. There was also that life long career as a composer, musician and artist.

First, it was a year in St. Thomas, USVI, working as a reporter and shooting photography and then, a year in San Agustin Etla, Oaxaca, Mexico.
Time passed.
More time passed and a year back in the Athens of America followed by a hasty return to Oaxaca where it is all happening.
A couple of years in San Sebastian Etla and now, just down the road in San Pablo Etla. Life is good.

Let the good times roll..

July is the beginning of months of good times in Oaxaca.  I can think of things to do and places to visit until Semana Santa, starting with the dancers in Teotitlan through the Guelaguezta to Day of the Dead, Noche del Rabanos, Navidad, Carnaval...  good times await... even if it rains.
This week is the annual festividad de La Preciosa Sangre de Cristo in Teotitlan with dancers and the wonderful confites or processions through the streets of the village.
It was good to see Doña Marina and Malinche who have been acting the parts for three years now.
I think this is the last time this group will be dancing.  A new group will take over in September and carry on the tradition for the next three years.  Keep on dancin'...
