The here and now... and what and why

Complacency is a trap. At least that’s what I was thinking when I up and left the comfort of a Yankee prep school gig, where I taught music, amongst other things, for 28 years. There was also that life long career as a composer, musician and artist.

First, it was a year in St. Thomas, USVI, working as a reporter and shooting photography and then, a year in San Agustin Etla, Oaxaca, Mexico.
Time passed.
More time passed and a year back in the Athens of America followed by a hasty return to Oaxaca where it is all happening.
A couple of years in San Sebastian Etla and now, just down the road in San Pablo Etla. Life is good.

You can leave your hat on....

Just seeing these wonderfully colorful chapeaus, kinda makes me wish I was a hat guy.  Alas, I'm not stylin' enuf or able to pull these off like Bruno Mars could. Still, very tempting...... but no, I don't need to have folks sayin, "Is that Bruno's abuelito?"  I get the hairy eyeball enough, know what I mean?
All just adds to the visual beauty and complexities of Oaxaca.

You should just buy a hat you love and start wearing it! I always thought I wasn't a hat person until I found the right hat-now I love wearing it

I think Bev's got the right idea. I've never been a fluffy pink girl, but several years ago I saw a soft pink/coral/peach boa-type "scarf" in a thrift shop and it was sooo "not me" that I had to have it. It's so fun I now embrace the look. And I once had some shoes that weren't "fashionable" but I thought looked so great on me, that I always felt that my wearing them made them cool. Greatly liberating experiences.

Diane, in the Bay Area where there IS a bit of freedom to define personal "cool".
