The here and now... and what and why

Complacency is a trap. At least that’s what I was thinking when I up and left the comfort of a Yankee prep school gig, where I taught music, amongst other things, for 28 years. There was also that life long career as a composer, musician and artist.

First, it was a year in St. Thomas, USVI, working as a reporter and shooting photography and then, a year in San Agustin Etla, Oaxaca, Mexico.
Time passed.
More time passed and a year back in the Athens of America followed by a hasty return to Oaxaca where it is all happening.
A couple of years in San Sebastian Etla and now, just down the road in San Pablo Etla. Life is good.

Another Viernes in Llano

Once again, as on every Friday during Lent, Llano Park was the place to be, as another school celebrated their young ladies with music and flowers.
Because the schools are different each week, the celebrations are different each week.  This was a much smaller school than last week when the place was packed.
So a bit more subdued, but still fun and so nice to see people having such a good time.
It started bright and early in the morning, just after 8:30 and once again, the musicians were ready to roll.
And of course, some heart throbs looking fine.
The stars of the day.
And lots of flowers.
As always, classic Oaxacan beauties.
Two more Fridays left.... Be there or be square.

I left Oaxaca on Thursday March 1. A friend wrote on Friday and said that they were cutting down trees in El Llano. Do you know which ones?

So glad we met you by chance at the Etla market last week. Your blog is absolutely wonderful, so full of love and appreciation for Oaxaca. I found Oaxaca so enchanting, it is a pleasure to read more deeply about this area through your blog and beautiful photography. I am hoping to return when I can.
