Think about this. Imagine if most of the teachers in the entire country went on strike just at the beginning of the school year. There are lots of threads there and the newspapers are full of stories about how the strike is messing with people's lives. School uniforms, restaurants, transportation, not to mention the kids not getting an education or parents having to deal with children at home when they should be in school.
Just up the street from me in Trinidad de Viguera,
the parents are demanding the teachers return or else they will close the school.
In Huajuapam, the economy is taking a major hit.

We were commenting how the teachers didn't strike this May....little did we know they had bigger plans!
I can't believe these striking Oaxaca teachers are receiving full salary... PLUS a bonus is delivered to them in Mexico City.

The city seems quiet. I guess most everyone is in the DF. The is action in the villages and I will post about that shortly.
