The here and now... and what and why

Complacency is a trap. At least that’s what I was thinking when I up and left the comfort of a Yankee prep school gig, where I taught music, amongst other things, for 28 years. There was also that life long career as a composer, musician and artist.

First, it was a year in St. Thomas, USVI, working as a reporter and shooting photography and then, a year in San Agustin Etla, Oaxaca, Mexico.
Time passed.
More time passed and a year back in the Athens of America followed by a hasty return to Oaxaca where it is all happening.
A couple of years in San Sebastian Etla and now, just down the road in San Pablo Etla. Life is good.

Before and After - Antes y después

I drove into the city just to see what the action was on election day and I did not see anything related to political activity. It was a typical Sunday with people walking the streets and enjoying a beautiful day, clear and cool with huge billowing clouds. All in all the campaign was short compared to El Norte and that is not a bad thing seeing as though they are all ready running for 2012 there. It gets old quickly. Give it a rest... like that could happen.

The zocalo was back to normal and I will post much more about that shortly with lots of before and after shots.

No more dramatic an example of before and after than these two shots.

Thank you for reporting how Oaxaca appeared on Election Day. I am sitting here in Chicago trying to follow the election for governor and appreciate an un-political, un-media viewpoint. I am sure tomorrow's papers will show something much more sensational.
