The here and now... and what and why

Complacency is a trap. At least that’s what I was thinking when I up and left the comfort of a Yankee prep school gig, where I taught music, amongst other things, for 28 years. There was also that life long career as a composer, musician and artist.

First, it was a year in St. Thomas, USVI, working as a reporter and shooting photography and then, a year in San Agustin Etla, Oaxaca, Mexico.
Time passed.
More time passed and a year back in the Athens of America followed by a hasty return to Oaxaca where it is all happening.
A couple of years in San Sebastian Etla and now, just down the road in San Pablo Etla. Life is good.

Back to normal?

Those of you who missed me...well, you know what they say... How can you miss me if I won't go away or something like that. I took a quick trip to El Norte. Why? Well, for one, my doctor had a cancellation and I snapped it up. Don't get me going on health care.... at any rate, it made sense to see him this decade. Got a clean bill of health, so it was worth it.

So here I am where sights like these seem more normal than the things I saw at the North Shore Mall. Talk about feeling like an alien. It must have been my imagination, but people sure seemed like they were looking at me like I was one. Must have been my nice new Emiliano Zapata tee.
While I was gone, there was lots of rain and I returned to what was brown and now is green. Ahhh...
