Off today in search for these traditional "old guys" who represent the passing year. They sit in front of the house for a couple of days, only to get set afire at midnight on the 31st. They will bid a fond(?) farewell to 2020 and everything that happened in it. I do love the face shield, gloves and mask... and how lucky to have a babe representing the new year. I saw several on my walk, always with the perfunctory booze. I will have to listen for them at midnight, because they are often stuffed with firecrackers. So with a few thousand bangs and booms, Adios, 2020..... at least we made it this far, unlike many others. We need to be thankful for that.

Dear Chris,
ReplyDeleteIt is always with pleasure that I open your blogs...the delight of being in Oaxaca, once again.
We have spent the winters there for 17 years but stayed home, in Eugene, Oregon after returning from Oaxaca and DF at the end of February.
Thank you for your photography and revelations.
See you in 2021 in Oaxaca!

Thanks for the kind words. In truth, it is more of a challenge to blog these days. I feel like I'm living such a quiet life alone out in the country.... I miss the normal vibrancy of this place. It's more in the subtleties now. Still, blogging is a bit of self-discipline, so it's always a good thing to do, to continue to chronicle my exciting and scintillating life.... this seemingly endless string of days of kinda the same thing over and over. It will get better. Let's hope you can return this year!
