The airport here in Oaxaca has been closed down since Sunday, blocked by protesters. So my flight for tomorrow has been cancelled. And my covid test ($75 US) and travel documents are all worthless now. There has been no action or progress on the situation. I'm imagining how the friendly folks in El Norte would handle a similar scene.

Just read about the blockade of the airport by student teachers who want to be guaranteed a job when they finish their training. Nice gig if you can get it, so you don't really have to be qualified or actually good at what you do, just get through the program?
ReplyDeleteVaccine program here is now open to all without appointments. Some states have more vaccine than people willing to get the vaccine. Can you fly out of another airport?

So, warts and all, I'd rather live in the US. It is more predictable and I can communicate in a language I know. Sorry to hear you are having problems. Maybe take a bus or hire an Uber? On second thought, that might be too much of an adventure.
ReplyDeleteWell, it looks like as of Thursday morning, the airport is open. Also, too, I can get my second does in San Pablo mañana. I rebooked my flight for next week, so there's that. I'm not sure about all those student teachers. Some looked like they escaped from Lucha Libre.
ReplyDeleteI hear you, Russ. This place, like all, has it problems. Living here teaches one different things, so I'll just continue my education. Plus, hand made tortillas? All things work out in the end.
