El Sol - The sun comes out in Teo


What a difference a day makes.... the sun was out in Teotitlan del Valle yesterday and the danzantes and their dazzling outfits were in fine form.  It was a glorious day and so were they.  I am just going through shots and I fixated on this dancer.

I need to go back and figure out who he is, but man o man, did he look fine or what?
Update:  El guapo is Armando Vincente Mendoza.
In comparison to what I have seen in many of the other danzantes from other villages, Teotitlan del Valle blows them all away in terms of the beauty and complexities of their outfits.
There is so much that goes into every detail.  Much more in a bit.
It is an off day in Teo today as they get ready for a confite on Friday and a full weekend of dancing.

    Beautiful pictures of a very handsome young dancer, would love to see how he can move and dance in that elaborated costume.

    What comes to my mind is the citation about one of the greatest ever ballet masters Sergey Diagilev:"Gesamtkunstwerk [total artwork]: an entertainment, not more than an hour long, in which all the elements, story (if any), music, décor and choreography, were commissioned by himself to form a complete whole."

    At some point I will post some video. It is just that my upload is really slow. And how does one edit an eight hour dance down to just a few minutes?

    Solo un comentario, el recorrido previo al la fiesta se le llama "convite" no confite, ya que se refiere a convitar o invitar a todos a participar en la fiesta, el confite es otra cosa...

    For non Spanish speakers...The word should be convite(inviting others to join) instead of confite, which is candy. Boy, do I feel foolish, but sweet.
